New Stamps!

Hello! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! ours was very fun and heartwarming. I think most of my family went a little past our budgets for our chosen gift-recipients (we drew names), but we are all a little better of financially than we were last year so it wasn't too bad.

Here I have a card made with the oh-so stunning stamp set from PTI called Rosie Posie. Oh, where has this stamp set been all my life?? I purposefully strayed away from the other PTI flower sets because they didn't speak to me as much as this one has. It's so wonderfully graphic and versatile!!

This card is very much inspired by Nicole Heady's design:

I'm surprisingly happy with the way the Ad Sense sentiment worked with the background (at first I didn't think it would look all that stellar). I stamped the flower and leaf images in CTMH Petal and Pansy Purple inks, and PTI Canyon Clay and Autumn Rose inks. Lastly I heat embossed the hexagon background with clear powder for a bit of texture.

I felt like the Happy Day sentiment frame became a little 'lost' against the very vibrant and busy background, but I didn't want to cover up a good portion of the background with cardstock. I think the vellum matting sets of the frame just enough without hiding my handiwork.

This recent monthly stamp release from PTI is the first where I was chomping at the bit to order. I was actually poised and ready at my computer watching the clock! I picked up the filigree border die on a whim, but I am super stoked that I did; I love the unique and delicate touch it adds without being too feminine.

I'm off to go tweak the cart of my next purchase! I gotta get ready for the upcoming Online Card Class! :D

Take care peeps!!

Christmas Tag with Ribbon Pleating

Herro again! I made it back in time to submit a tag for this week's Make it Monday Challenge at PTI. Since this is a tag, I believe I can enter it into the Simon Says Stamp Challenge as well! I'm only double-dipping, is that okay? hahah. ^_~

I definitely see myself using this card on one of Momma O's (mom-in-law) Christmas presents. I hope to kind of go crazy with crafty wrapping embellishments this year, from giant bows to specially-wrapped stocking stuffers!

The sentiment isn't as clear as I'd like, but I think it's still readable. I used Stylish Sentiments: Holiday, Half and Half (one of the dies as well), damask snowflakes with vintage cream felt, Seedless Preserves Distress Ink, Perfect Pearls Mists, and Stone twine from the Twinery.

And of course I had to top it off with some adorable jingle bells! the 9mm are the perfect size for embellishing.

Have a great one guys!

Masculine Birthday

I hope everyone had a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving! =) I was super busy helping out with the turkey dinner, but it was very fun and all the food turned out delicious.

Just a quick card post; I've been crafting for a bit when I just realized how late it was! haha. Time flies when yo\u get into the 'zone'. This card is for a classmate of mine. We're doing a bit of a birthday bash with cupcakes and goodies before class tomorrow evening. Hopefully he likes it!

I've been working so much with reds and greens for Christmas, and I couldn't seem to stay away from them with this card! I think the Hawaiian Shores helps balance that out though.

I hope to get a chance to create a card with the current Make it Monday technique that Dawn posted. I think the ribbon pleating is so cute!

Take care guys, talk to ye soon!

Almost done!

Almost done with school! I still have some big tests and projects to finish, but I'm really really excited for this semester to be over. I am definitely ready for the winter break, haha!

Here is an Anniversary Card for my fiance's sister. I love it when I get requests to make cards, they're a fun challenge.

Only a day left of the Holiday Card Boot Camp! that makes me a bit sad that it's already over, but it was a really fun class! =) and it gave me a ton of inspiration that I'll show as I gradually complete my holiday crafts.

Take care peeps!

HCBC Day 6

Herro again! I just got my package of PTI goodies hooray! among the stamps I received was Stylish Sentiments: Holiday. It is a truly beautiful set; I fell in love with it right away!

I've never used the Signo Uni-ball white gel pen until now--and WOW! holy cow this pen is amazing. Usually I have to coax the ink out by scribbling on a piece of scrap paper vivaciously. But not this little guy! You barely have to place the pen tip to the cardstock and the ink flows. I'm a true believer now!

I've been waiting to use this little mug die-cut for a while. I stamped is as a tester for an ink pad and then it just sat around for a while, hiding under all of the clutter and scraps on my desk. But tonight it was the perfect little focal point for this round card.

Mmmm...hot cocoa anyone? Haha. Last week when my honey and I were shopping, he pointed over to the dairy section and made me aware of the presence of--gasp--eggnog!! I love the stuff, but egads I must resist a whee bit longer. If I started drinking it this early in the season I'd have my winter 'coat' sooner than I'd expect! hahaha.

Anywho, have a great week peeps! Take care.

Holiday Card Boot Camp Post 2!!

Hello! I found some time to whip up another Holiday-inspired card! It's based off of Day 3's post. I don't have any embossing folders, so unfortunately I couldn't duplicate that technique, but I really enjoyed putting together this window card!

I'm still trying to figure out the best way to adhere glitter. I use a 2-way glue pen to help Judikins Sticky Stuff stick to the surface a little bit better, but that doesn't really help how it adheres to stamped images (even with a freshly reinked versamark pad the powder doesn't like to stick very well). I'll keep experimenting though, haha!

I used Turning a New Leaf for my tree 'bough', Candy Cane Christmas for the ornament and the striped stamp at the bottom, Modern Wood Mats for the sentiment frame, Holiday Lights for the sentiment, and Text Style I for the background (I'm just a whee bit obsessed with PTI, hee hee!)

Take Care Peeps!

Oh so busy!

Whew! Had a busy oh...I dunno, entire month there? hahaha. It went by like a blurr! Disneyland, birthday, school, work (oh my!).
Anywho, I'm here to show you this project to start off the Holiday Card Boot Camp class that I'm attending. I am so uber jazzed about this class! It's already so inspiring and so much fun.

Since I don't have the Picket Fence White Distress Stain that Kristina used, I did a bit of a reversed technique and used versamark to darken the piece of cardstock on the right. I think I'm getting more and more practiced with using glitter, but it is still incredibly messy. I think my socks are still leaving trails of sparkle around the house, lol!

I have a package from Simon Says Stamp with a few goodies that should be on it's way soon, and another order from PTI. I've been reading some of the forums lately that show quite a few disgruntled customers concerning poor customer service and time management (I have only learned snippets - I don't know the full story). I certainly love the designers and the products so much that I'll stick by some squeaky times.

Have a great start of the week peeps, see ya soon!

Wish Big

Sooo after a typical hectic weekend of working and reading, my PTI package finally came in!! hooray!! I'd share the full list of contents, but that would reveal how truly obsessed I am...which could be spooky for those faint of heart! lol.

I did great on tonight's exam (something I wasn't expecting at first) so I treated myself to a little crafty-time. I needed a card for my fiance's sister's upcoming birthday,

I loooooove that font from Star Prints! So much that I searched around for the name so I could use it with my Silhouette; it's called Ambermarle Swash. The circle stamp is from Candy Cane Christmas of PTI's recent release. I'm actually surprised at how much I've used it so far. That tells me that if I snatch up any of the tag-it's or fillable frames sets that they will get much love. Squeeeee!

Another happy find is the little birdie from my Tag-it's 3 (speaking of tag-its, haha!). He just nestles in that little spot quite perfectly I think. =)

I made this tag as a thank-you trinket for my boss at work; she's been working really hard lately and I wanted to let her know I appreciate everything she does for our CNA team.

Egads...the modern wood mats... I just adore them! *swoon* So lurvely.

Anywho, I'm off to relax a bit before I head to bed; thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of the week! =)

Cheers,

Megan

Yeah yeah and it's OK. . .

Goodmorning!

I find myself growing more and more antsy about the arrival of my recent PTI purchase. This is the first time I've made a purchase right after a release--and holy cow! I didn't realize how long the release delay was; I ordered on the 19th and it still has not shipped yet. I can't even imagine the huge wave of orders that came in after the release; I'm not mad or annoyed by any means, just very surprised! I think I'll play it safe from now on and order from them when they're a whee bit less busy. ;) Can't wait to play with all of the new goodies though!

This card I actually made a few weeks ago, I'm still trying to figure out what I would like to do for the chipboard Make It Monday.

I adore off-center placement of focal points...I guess that just dates back to the days of my art classes. =)

Last night I was giggling like a mad scientist as I made preparations for my Halloween Disney Mini-Album for our trip in October,
My fiance chuckled at me as I cut away at the cereal and snack boxes. I replied to him in my best Igor voice, "I must prepare, no time to waste!" hahahaha. I honestly don't know how much I'll need for the pages, so I raided the recycle bin and thought I'd just stock up.

Lastly before I go eat some chocolate cheerios, I thought I'd share my music obsession for today. Last night I was cruising Youtube (as I usually do before I head to bed) and I stumbled upon Foster The People's latest song, "Helena Beat." I'm totally new to the band; so far their lyrics tend to be on the darker side (like their hit "Pumped Up Kicks"), but I just can't resist the catchy beats!!

Have a great day guys! Catch you later. :D

Make It Monday: Frosted Images

Hooray for MIM! I love Lisa Johnson's creations, they are so beautiful!

The 'smudging' aspect of this technique didn't work out so well for the colors because I used CTMH dye inks, and because dye inks dry so quickly they aren't really blendable. However, the black versafine I used for the sentiment blended almost too well! I'm finding that I use the Turning a New Leaf set a great deal more than I first thought it would. Who knew it would be so versatile? lol.

Okay, so I'm definitely putting a light box on my birthday wishlist, haha. I even searched around the house for a space near a window, but the light there was too harshly angled for there to be good coverage of the entire card. That's alright, I think it can be seen well enough here. =)

I have a study group for a lovely (sarcasm, cough) nursing exam today. I'm not sweating it too much, but test days certainly churn my brain into a pile of grey mush.

Happy stamping! Have a great day. =)

Getting in the mood....

Normally I don't like to get especially excited about the holidays too early in the year (the five years I worked at Michael's fiddled with my holiday timer a great deal!) but between the new Papertrey Ink and Waltzingmouse releases...well....let's say that I'm getting a whee bit stoked for the upcoming months! haha. ^_~

Not to mention that my fiance's family and I are going on a trip to Disneyland in October. My two favorite movies are The Nightmare Before Christmas and Beauty and the Beast--I hope to get pictures with them! I'll probably be so nervous and say something silly... let's turn up the dork-meter here!

Anywho, here it the card I made last night, inspired by this MACM by Kristina Werner. I absolutely love her designs and her videos. I accredit her to being one of the big reasons I began cardmaking.

I'm still trying to figure out how to get the lighting right, so I'm not very satisfied with how the quality turned out. I have two Ottlites on either side of my desk--I guess I'll have to just keep experimenting.

I have about 2 1/2 hours until I need to attend my afternoon workshop for Nursing school. In the meantime I'll try to tidy things up and cram some reading in (although my brains can only take so much before they go numb! haha).

Have a great week guys! Happy crafting, and talk to you soon. =)

So I've heard of this thing called a blog. . . .

Ever since creating a mini-album for my New York City trip a few years ago, I have been addicted to cardmaking and scrapbooking. However, being in a small retirement town hasn't really allowed me to rub elbows with many fellow papercrafters (I mean, no one really suspect a 22 year-old to have hobbies like mine).

But one daaaaay I stumbled upon a Finally Friday video by Kristina Werner (I think it was a Halloween card), and ever since my entire source of inspiration has been the interwebs and the amazing papercrafting community out here! And that is what got me all fired up to start a blog, because hopefully someday I will be able to pass on a bit of creative spark to someone out there as so many others have for me.

So anywho, hi! =) And welcome to my odd little showcase!
